It's a new year and I love this time because everyone starts thinking about changes they want to make. I've been really into reading for about 2 years now and I haven't really had any direction in my reading - I just wanted to read as much as I could. Last year I read 100 books - which was insane to me since I've always considered myself a slow reader. I guess when you love something enough you make time for it. The great thing about reading so much though, was I started to learn what I loved in books and what I hated in books, what makes me put a book down, what makes me read it obsessively into all hours of the night. But there's still so much I don't know because I read mostly YA in the last year. This year I'd like to branch out a bit.
Last year was all about quantity, but this year I'd like to focus on quality. I've always been intimidated by large books because I feel like they would take forever to get through. Goals are supposed to be challenging though! So my first goal is to read 10 books over 500 pages.
I feel like there are a lot of amazing classics out there but I have only read the ones I read for school. So for my second reading goal, I'd like to challenge myself to read 10 classics. I already know I'd like to read as much Dumas as I can since I love the Three Musketeers and that whole time period!
I love YA. It's YA that got me into reading for fun, it's YA that makes me so excited I can hardly stand it, I run a teen book club, I can't get enough of these amazing stories. However, I'm 27 and I don't read much that's meant for my own age group. I haven't even tried. So this year I want to try some different things and see what I like. I challenge myself to read 10 adult books.
So that's 30 books, and that doesn't even include all the YA I want to read. I'm looking forward to a great reading year. And why not start a book blog? We'll see what happens!
Happy reading!
